Miroma is an open plan, five bedroom and two bathroom residential home located in the heart of Mount Gambier. It includes a large self-contained flat at the rear of the house and a medium sized backyard with an enclosed outdoor area.

The home has been modified to support participants with a wide range of physical disabilities and allows our staff to provide safe, flexible and individual care. Over the past 10 years, management has integrated a number of additions and modifications to the home, including:

  • A large renovated bathroom that includes a stand alone bath, shower, changing table and a state-of-the-art electric ceiling hoist, allowing for safe transfers for people with limited mobility.
  • A purpose built bed that allows participants who present with Autism Spectrum Disorder the ability to feel safe and secure.
  • Adapted technology to suit a wide range of intellectual and physical disabilities.
  • A secure and flat backyard allowing for participants with physical disabilities to access the outdoors.
  • Appropriate hand rails and wheelchair access where necessary.

Sensory Room

A new Sensory Room has opened at Miroma Cottage, 12 Yeates Street, Mount Gambier which is used to provide short term out of home care.

The room will help those who need help learning how to regulate their emotions. Those who attend Miroma Cottage will now have access to this private room with light installations, galaxy projectors, a bubble tube with interchanging colours and fibre optic cables for participants to run their finger through.
